FC Seoul captain Jesse Lingard has flown to England for his grandfather accused of sexual abuse.

British media 'The Sun' reported on the 22nd (Korea time) that "Former Manchester United star Jesse Lingard said he would prevent his daughter from meeting him if the allegations were true in his grandfather's sexual harassment trial."

According to the media, Lingard's grandfather Kenneth Lingard was accused of sexually abusing a woman from the age of 5 until he was 19. He denies 17 allegations of sexual abuse.

When his grandfather was tried, Lingard flew to England immediately after the game. He lost 1-2 to Gwangju FC in the sixth round of Hana Bank K League 1 2025 at Seoul World Cup Stadium on the 19th, but scored his fourth goal of the season.

Lingard told Liverpool Crown Court that he had lived with his grandfather since he was two or three years old, and that he fully supported his football career.

"My grandfather basically taught me soccer and taught me all the skills," he said. "He drove along the highway from Liverpool to Manchester, Crewe, Barnsley and Stoke and watched me play soccer."

He then defended his grandfather, saying, "My grandfather is the one who made me here today."

Lingard also confessed that several sponsorship deals were canceled due to the trial. "Some sponsorship deals in Korea have been canceled. We had to put many sponsorship deals that were going on in Korea on hold," he said.

The trial began when a woman reported to the police that she had been sexually abused by Lingard's grandfather after seeing a documentary featuring him. At the time, Lingard praised his grandfather's influence on his career through a documentary.

According to the media, the woman called the police immediately after the documentary was aired.

"I thought it was time to talk about the abuse I received," she told police. "I felt bad about him being described as such a hero."

The woman then messaged Lingard three times in November 2022. In one message, she claimed, "Jessie Lingard, shame on you," adding, "There are so many lies. Kenneth Lingard, your grandfather, harassed me and sexually abused me. You know that."

"I made this documentary for money and to look like an ambassador for mental health," he said. "As you say, I am speaking out. There is no more silence."

"In another article, she mentioned that Lingard was hiding the dark secret that her grandfather was a paedophile and child abuser," the outlet said. "She also accused the late Lingard's grandmother Pamela of being a helper." 스포츠토토

"This woman insisted that Lingard's grandfather molested her for years, so he was not qualified to film a documentary," he added.

In response, Lingard told the court, "She was only talking about documentaries, she was only talking about making him appear on documentaries when he did that," adding, "I thought, 'What are you talking about? I've never heard anything about this.' "
